Cheap and an ideal gift or stocking filler.
We used some of the pictures to trace around - fun.
It's NOT gigantic, but it IS good! Posted: 23 June 2010
The first thing to point out is that the Crayola Gigantic Colouring Book isn't very gigantic. The name suggests that the pages will be big but the pages are actually just A4 sized. I think the 'gigantic' actually refers to the large amount of pages inside the book, rather than the size of the pages.
The book has 65 pages and there are pictures on both sides of every page, which means there are a whopping 130 pictures to colour. This means that the book lasts for absolutley ages - total value for money! And although the book has lots of pages, it isn't very heavy which means we can take it out and about easily enough.
The pages aren't white and are more of an off-white colour. They look as though they are made from recycled paper. The colour of the paper doesn't affect the pictures or colouring in the pictures. This doesn't bother us at all, but may bother some...
The pages can be torn out of the book (which is useful for sharing pages between children etc) but haven't been designed to be removed from the book very well - everytime we have torn pages out of the book they have come out quite jagged.
All of the pictures are big and bold, and fill up most of the pages.
The pictures are very varied and appeal to both boys and girls (it's totally unisex). The pictures are all drawn like cartoons and all of them are easy to make out.
The majority of the pictures seem to be of people carrying out various activities which include easter egg hunting, digging, diving, tennis, feeding the ducks, at a party etc.
There are also quite a few pictures of people dressed up (king, queen, princess, astronaut, pirate, ballerina, alien etc) and there are also plenty of pictures without people in (a garden scene, a dinosaur, aliens, rabbits etc).
Just off the top of my head I would say that the colouring book encourages hand eye coordination, concentration and imagination.
Best suited for 2-8 year olds. I recommend.
lovely pictures Posted: 18 May 2010
The pages are a good size and the pictures are very clear and simple. My 1 year old likes the simple designs.
Really nice generic book Posted: 17 February 2010
This is a really nice generic book with a ton of pages. I keep it in my nappy bag for when we're out and about.
